In Close Proximity
to a World Class Metropolitan Area
Our region has been particularly blessed with economic prosperity and tremendous natural beauty. When Austin McMullen ran for the Board of Commissioners, he promised to work with
Oak Hill’s natural allies to help our community achieve its full potential. Austin has been true to his word, working to ensure that Oak Hill retains its unique character while benefitting from the world class metropolitan area in which it is located.
Notable examples of Austin’s work to lead Oak Hill in partnering with its neighbors include the City’s new safety program that utilizes off-duty Metro police officers and the adoption of best practices and ordinances recommended by the Tennessee Municipal League, Tennessee City Management Association and the Municipal Technical Advisory Service, which is a component of the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service.
The recently awarded TDOT enhancement grant for the section of Franklin Road in northern Oak Hill is another example of the successful partnerships Austin has forged to benefit Oak Hill. As part of this project, Oak Hill is working with the City of Berry Hill and TDOT to minimize administrative costs of the project, ensuring that the greatest possible amount of money actually goes into beautification of the area rather than bureaucratic paperwork.
