Protecting Our Resources
Under Austin McMullen's leadership, the City of Oak Hill has taken conscientious steps to protect the City's natural and financial resources.

With Austin as Mayor, the City received feedback from many residents asking for a new recycling program. In February 2011, the City entered into a contract that continued the City’s free twice-weekly backdoor trash pick-up while adding recycling pick-up.
The response from Oak Hill’s residents has been tremendous, with over 20% of the total waste volume collected being diverted to recycling. This greatly exceeds the participation rate achieved by other cities and benefits both the environment and the City, which receives a credit on the expense of waste pick-up for every additional ton of material that residents recycle.
Beautiful Radnor Lake is one of the greatest
natural resources in the City of Oak Hill.
